Deep dive into Azure Data Lake: General Concepts & Internals

Are you interested in Data Lakes and Big Data, but don't have any hands-on experience and don't know where to start? Is Data Lake just another buzzword without real use case, or can it help you with your business?

In this session we will discuss general concepts of Data Lakes with focus on differences between Data Warehousing and Data Lake. We will answer why, when and how to use Data Lakes to leverage your business, and mention where to expect obstacles during implementation from the perspective of DB/BI Developers and Data analysts.

In second part of session we will glimpse under the hood of Azure Data Lake and get familiar with its internals. U-SQL, new language for data processing on Azure, will be introduced in third part of the session, together with few recommendations where to start if you are already familiar with T-SQL.
