Come to learn more about Elasticsearch to the evening full of talks from members of the worldwide Elastic community.
== PROGRAM ==
Full-Text Search Explained
Today’s applications are expected to provide powerful full-text search. But how does that work in general and how do I implement it on my site or in my application?Actually, this is not as hard as it sounds at first. This talk covers: * How full-text search works in general and what the differences to databases are. * How the score or quality of a search result is calculated. * How to implement this with Elasticsearch. Attendees will learn how to add common search patterns to their applications without breaking a sweat.
Speaker: Philipp Krenn
Philipp is part of the infrastructure team and a Developer Advocate at Elastic, spreading the love and knowledge of full-text search, analytics, and real-time data. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and meetups about all things search & analytics, databases, cloud computing, and devops. Philipp lives in Vienna where he enjoys experimenting with software, organizing meetups, and sports.

Beyond The Basics With Elasticsearch
The talk will provide a walktrough of some more advanced concepts and tools in Elasticsearch, such as use cases for the _percolate API, manipulating the search results score with the function_score query, and using the significant_terms aggregation to extract meaningful connections between entities.
Speaker: Honza Král
Honza is a Python programmer and Django core developer – since he is scared of the bright and shiny world of browsers, designers, and users he prefers to stay buried deep in the infrastructure code and just provides others with tools to do the actual site-building.
Since 2008 Honza has been building content web sites for fun and profit. During this time he discovered Elasticsearch which lead to him joining the company behind it in 2013 to work on the Python drivers.

Our Persoo story with Elasticsearch
We are using Elasticsearch as one of the edge technologies for building our service Persoo.Persoo is SaaS which tracks visitor behavior on the website and uses collected data for personalizations -- product recommendations, product filtering, targeted messages on all communication channels,
i.e.personalized trigger emails. In the talk, I will show you how we use Elasticsearch, what are the creative use cases, what is our practical experience and lessons learned during last 3 years using Elastic for more than 1k websites.
Speaker: Jakub Černý
Jakub is the founder of Persoo. He studied math and computer science at MFF UK, worked on fulltext search for Seznam.cz, and then founded a service for website personalizations.He is excited about new technologies, research behind it, breakthrough algorithms used for the real life.
