There will be two speakers with the following presentations:

• Usage-based pricing - how to compute user-level margin by Matej Sestak (Data Team Lead at Apify)
  Usage-based pricing is popular amongst many SaaS or PaaS companies as it offers a great incentive for the customer - you only pay for what you use. But how do you measure user-level margin? In this talk, I will show you how Apify tackles this problem and uses the AWS Cost and Usage Report together with custom tagging to be able to assign per-instruction costs to individual customers and get our margin.
• How to cost-optimise your workloads on AWS EKS using EC2 Spot, Graviton and Karpenter by Borja Pérez Guasch (Specialist Solutions Architect at AWS)
  Kubernetes has enabled applications to be mostly agnostic to the underlying infrastructure and made it easier to run and scale containerized applications - but scaling the underlying compute capacity efficiently is challenging.
  Karpenter (open-source project), observes the aggregated resource requests and makes decisions to launch or terminate nodes to reduce scheduling latencies and infrastructure costs.
  In this session we will review and demo, how Karpenter simplifies and accelerates infrastructure provisioning - including optimizations like workload consolidation, cost saving, ARM processors and much more. We will discuss the best practices for scaling Kubernetes applications and the tools that will make your life easier managing the underlying compute infrastructure.
