Jiri Neoral - Analysis Services Tabular + DAX

Successful year 2016 is behind us but a new year with many interesting sessions is just coming. In January we are going to meet with Jiri Neoral (https://twitter.com/JiriNeoral) – well known Czech expert in Microsoft BI Platform and a freshly awarded Microsoft Data Platform MVP. He will present about Analysis Services Tabular + DAX. Here is what he is saying about his session:

SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) are technology which allows you to build analytical models to support reporting and ad hoc analysis. Tabular is younger of the two supported model types and it is easier if you are new to the technology. Although it isn’t new, till SQL Server 2016 was available just in premium editions. Now it’s availability increased, because is available in Standard edition as well as Azure Analysis Services were introduced. During meetup you’ll see what advantages for analysis SSAS bring to place. You’ll learn how to build models as well as will see basics of DAX language which is used for calculations and querying. Knowledge is partially transferable to Excel Power Pivot and Power BI. We will also cover comparison with Analysis Services Multidimensional models what are the benefits of two and in which cases should you take which model type.
