Abstract:

In the age of microservices and serverless, sub-second startup times and running at full performance from the beginning are highly prized properties for Java applications. At the same time, developers are reluctant to lose any features that traditional Java offers and want to keep using familiar tools. OpenJDK project CRaC (Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint) aims at this sweet spot between traditional Java and native compilation, freezing the running application and restoring it when needed. In this session, you will see how to CRaC your application, learn how this works underhood and where the project is heading.
