If you're interested in learning about interesting applications of IT across pharmaceutical R&D, come and join us for another MSD IT Meet Up, organized by our R&D IT Team. We'll host a series of short presentations about how we are addressing specific problems through IT applications from early discovery to drug submission and launch.

The paradigm of pharmaceutical research & development (R&D) is shifting: the ever-increasing volumes and breadth of data, the complexity of scientific discovery and drug development mechanisms and the evolving standards of excellence and compliance generate a number of challenges and opportunities for which information technologies (IT) can provide tremendous value.

First, Ondrej Holub and Danny Bitton will talk about new diagnostics tools and treatments through multi-disciplinary, highly collaborative “bench-to-bedside” approach in Translational Medicine, and how we're exploring the human microbiome with machine learning methods to facilitate biomarker and drug discovery.

Second, Agata Leszczynska and Kasper Malfroid will discuss how risk-based monitoring is being implemented in clinical trials, and how we've developed visualization tools to support audit target selection and meet the highest compliance requirements

Then, Jose Ferrao will discuss the shift from volume to value-based care, and how big data technologies and analytics tools are being used to advance value-evidence generation from real-world data assets

And last, David Dzamba will talk about the challenges of searching simultaneously across many data sources, and how the search tool developed at MSD enables search across 12 main data sources, which contain invaluable data for MSD scientists
