Building AI-powered retail store Advancements in intelligent cloud services that make people and object recognition as easy as a simple REST call enables new scenarios that enhance traditional businesses and institutions - such as brick & mortar stores, museums and galleries. This talk will be about backbone technology, Martin will show you how he and his colleagues have built a physical retail store that not only discovers demographics of customers, but also offers relevant products to them (customers:-)). Real intelligent kiosk. This talk describes how they prototyped a cloud backend for an intelligent retail kiosk, which recognizes returning customers and is able to offer them a personalized set of items.

Martin Šimeček is a Software Engineer @ Microsoft. Martin works for Microsoft Czech Republic & Slovakia as a Technical Evangelist. His job is to discover and learn what’s new with Microsoft technologies for developers and then pass this information forward so that developers have enough information to be efficient and benefit from the technology. He does consultant trainings, consultations, records videos and screencasts, talks at conferences and works with ISV partners on their projects. His primary areas of focus are Microsoft Azure, mobile apps, gaming and conversational bots. Could the intelligent kiosk also dream about HAL 9000? We will see:-)
